Cookies and browser storage

This portal is a tool for managing your own devices and tickets. It carries no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party scripts, so there is nothing here that follows you anywhere else.

The one cookie

Name Purpose Lasts
portal_session Keeps you signed in. It holds a random value, not your identity — the account it belongs to is looked up on our side each time. Until it expires or you sign out

It is marked HttpOnly so no script can read it, Secure so it is only ever sent over HTTPS, and SameSite=Lax so another site cannot use it to act as you. Signing out deletes it here and ends the session on our side, so a copy of it is no longer good for anything.

Kept in your browser, not sent to us

Name Purpose
portal-theme Your light or dark choice, saved only if you pick one. Left alone, the portal follows whatever your device already asks for.
portal-cookie-notice That you have read the notice at the bottom of the page, so it stops appearing. Kept here rather than in a cookie, so that reading a notice about cookies does not set one.

Why there is no “accept” button

Consent rules cover cookies that are not needed to provide the thing you asked for — advertising, analytics, tracking between sites. A cookie that keeps you signed in is not one of those: refuse it and the portal cannot work at all. Offering a choice that is not a real choice would be theatre, so you get told plainly instead.

Clearing them

Signing out removes the session cookie. Clearing site data for this address in your browser removes everything above; the portal will then ask you to sign in again and follow your device's light or dark setting until you choose otherwise.

The rest

How RVA Tech Visions handles your information more broadly is in the privacy policy, and the terms and conditions cover the service itself.
